Terms of Service
These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your use of the Roavia website and mobile apps (the “Service”), operated by David Trehane trading as Roavia, 9a and 10a Saxon Square, Christchurch, Dorset BH23 2QA (“Roavia”, “we”, “us”). By creating an account or using the Service you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.
This page is provided in English; the English text is the operative version.
1. The Service
Roavia helps you plan and navigate road trips — building multi-stop itineraries, vehicle-aware routing with estimated tolls, campsite/aire discovery, and AI-assisted trip suggestions. The Service is provided for personal, non-commercial travel planning.
2. Eligibility and your account
You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a binding contract. You are responsible for your account, for keeping your login secure, and for the activity under it. Provide accurate information and keep it up to date.
3. Roavia Plus subscription
- What it is. Roavia Plus is a paid subscription that unlocks premium features (for example, unlimited trips and full turn-by-turn navigation). Free accounts may use a limited set of features.
- Price and billing. The price and billing currency are shown at checkout before you pay. Roavia Plus is billed annually in advance.
- Automatic renewal. Your subscription renews automatically each year at the then-current price, using your saved payment method, until you cancel. We will endeavour to remind you before a renewal where required by law.
- Payments. Payments are processed by Stripe. We do not receive or store your full card details.
4. Cancelling your subscription
You can cancel at any time from Settings → Subscription → Manage or cancel subscription, which opens the secure Stripe billing portal. When you cancel, your Roavia Plus access continues until the end of the period you have already paid for, and it will not renew again. Cancelling does not, by itself, delete your account or data.
5. Your right to cancel (14-day cooling-off) and refunds
If you are a consumer in the UK or EU, you normally have 14 days from the start of your subscription to cancel for a refund (the “right of withdrawal”).
If you cancel within the 14-day cooling-off period after requesting immediate access to the Services, we will refund your payment, less an amount calculated on a pro rata basis for the period during which the Services were available to you, as permitted by applicable consumer protection law.
Outside the cooling-off period, annual subscription fees are generally non-refundable except where required by law. To request a refund, contact us at the address below.
6. Price
The price shown at checkout is the total amount payable for your subscription.
7. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- break the law, infringe others’ rights, or misuse the Service;
- attempt to access accounts, data, or systems you are not authorised to;
- scrape, resell, or commercially exploit the Service or its content without permission;
- upload unlawful, harmful, or infringing content.
8. Your content
You keep ownership of the content you add (trips, notes, photos, and places). For content you keep private, you grant us a licence to host and process it solely to provide the Service to you.
When you choose to share content with the Roavia community — for example by submitting a campsite, aire, or other place together with its description and photos — you grant Roavia a worldwide, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable and sub-licensable licence to use, store, reproduce, adapt, translate, publish and display that content publicly within the Service and in related promotional material. Shared content may be shown to other users (typically labelled as traveller-contributed) and may remain available even if you later delete your account. You can ask us to remove shared content, although copies already incorporated into the shared dataset may persist.
You confirm that you own or have the necessary rights to any content you submit, that it is accurate to the best of your knowledge, and that sharing it does not infringe anyone else’s rights or privacy (for example, do not upload photos of identifiable people without their consent).
9. Routing, safety, and third-party information — no guarantee
Routing, toll estimates, low-emission-zone flags, ferry and campsite information, opening seasons, and AI-generated suggestions are provided for planning convenience and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or out of date. They are not a substitute for your own judgement, official sources, road signs, or the law.
You are responsible for driving safely and legally, for confirming that any route, crossing, or zone is suitable and permitted for your vehicle, and for checking prices, availability, and eligibility (for example, whether your vehicle qualifies for a given low-emission zone) directly with the relevant provider or authority. Do not operate the app while driving.
10. Availability and changes
We may add, change, or remove features, and we may suspend or discontinue the Service. We aim for high availability but do not guarantee the Service will be uninterrupted or error-free.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Roavia shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential or special loss or damage, including any loss of profits, revenue, business, data, goodwill or anticipated savings.
Except where liability cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, Roavia shall not be liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, the Services or any information, recommendations or content made available through the Services.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law. Nothing in these Terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
12. Suspension and termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time (Settings → Delete Account). We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms or where necessary to protect the Service or other users.
13. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
If you are a consumer, you may also have the benefit of mandatory consumer protection laws in the country where you are habitually resident. Nothing in these Terms affects those rights.
If you are a consumer resident in the United Kingdom, any dispute arising out of or in connection with these Terms may be brought before the courts of England and Wales. If you are a consumer resident in another country, you may also have the right to bring proceedings in the courts of your country of residence.
14. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above and, where the change is material, notify you in the app. Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated Terms.
